2010 All-Stars Among Us Winner

Tim Hannah, the President and Founder of Jamie’s Heart Foundation, was recognized by Major League Baseball and People Magazine as one of thirty winners of the “All-Stars Among Us” campaign.  Fans across the nation cast 1.7 million votes to select the 30 “All-Stars Among Us” winners out of the pool of 90 finalists who are serving as leaders within their communities.

Tim represented the Seattle Mariners and joined the other 29 “All-Stars Among Us” winners at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Anaheim, California on July 13th. The All-Star game was televised nationally by FOX Sports.  The “All-Stars Among Us” were honored during the pregame show as well as throughout the days before the game while in Anaheim.

In 2009, Major League Baseball and People Magazine started the “All Stars Among Us” campaign designed to recognized individuals making an impact in their communities.

Here are the details of the All-Stars Among Us campaign:

Tim was chosen from among over 7,500 nominations to be one of three finalists to represent the Seattle Mariners.  On June >>>, 2010, the Mariners welcomed Tim and his family to Safeco Field and introduced him as one of the finalists to those in attendance at the game.

Angie Mentick from Fox Sports Northwest interviewed Tim as part of their Mariners Post Game Show.

Puyallup man is Seattle Mariners winner of MLB/PEOPLE Magazine "All-Stars Among Us" campaign. Winners to be recognized at 2010 MLB All-Star Game on FOX

A Puyallup father who lost his two-year old daughter to a heart defect and now helps other families deal with caring for ill children has been named the Seattle Mariners 2010 MLB/People Magazine "All-Stars Among Us" winner.

Tim Hannah will be honored with 29 other people from across the country during a pre-game ceremony at the 81st Major League Baseball All-Star Game on July 13th on FOX beginning at 5pm PST. One winner will be featured in PEOPLE Magazine during All-Star Week.

Hannah was chosen from among three Mariners finalists by online voting of fans. Fans across the country cast 1.7 million votes, more than double the number from last year. Created in 2009, "All-Stars Among Us" recognizes individuals who are serving their community in extraordinary ways.

Hannah has channeled his grief at the death of his two-year old daughter from a congenital heart defect into a way to help other families caring for very sick children. Hannah founded the non-profit "Jamie's Heart," named after his daughter, to help families pay for such things as medical care, housing and travel, and provide much needed encouragement from someone who has experienced what they are going through. Hannah says every time he helps another family, he is honoring the memory of his daughter.

Going Beyond
The MLB PEOPLE "All-Stars Among Us: program is an extension of "Going Beyond," a platform that integrates community service and social responsibility into everything Major League Baseball does as an organization. It is hoped this can also serve as a call to action for all Americans to make a personal commitment to the communities in which they live.
